Rehab 4 Addiction

Drug & Alcohol Rehab in Ramsey

Rehab 4 Addiction arranges private rehab placements for UK residents who are having problems with substance abuse and addiction. We provide this service all over the country, including here in Cambridgeshire.

We help people make sense of the huge amount of rehab clinics on offer, and make life simpler by making a suggestion for a treatment location, based on the information that you provide us with.

This happens through the method of a short telephone assessment, in which we ask a number of questions about how addiction has affected your life.

Taking into account other factors, such as location and age, we are then able to make a suggestion and refer you as soon as you are ready to proceed. Call us on 0800 140 4690 to begin yours, or to get more information.

Why should a person choose rehab?

If you are looking for addiction treatment, rehab is the most effective option to go for. There is no other way to get the same quality and consistency of treatment within a compact time frame (usually about 28 days as an inpatient).

You can get professional help with everything from detox to talking therapy to aftercare and relapse prevention planning.

You also have the luxury of recovering in a peaceful environment that is sealed off from the chaos of the modern world – with fewer triggers and distractions, you can pour all your focus and energy into your own recovery.

Types of addiction treated at rehab

Alcohol

Alcoholism is the most common substance addiction in the UK, and affects the lives of millions of people when you consider the harm that problem drinkers cause to themselves, their families, and their communities.

Alcohol abuse is widespread, thanks in no small part to the drinking culture in our country, where excessive drinking is tolerated or even encouraged.

Cannabis

Aside from alcohol, cannabis is the most widely-consumed drug in the UK. There is a long-standing myth that cannabis is harmless, perhaps because it is not as physically harmful as some other substances. However, this is simply not true.

Chronic cannabis use can cause severe psychological problems and various mental health issues including anxiety and depression.

Cocaine & crack cocaine

Cocaine use is widespread across the UK, and is often considered a party drug due to making users sociable, hyperactive, and diminishing their inhibitions.

Regular cocaine use can cause severe psychological addiction and ‘comedowns’ in which users suffer intense low moods. This is also the case with ecstasy abuse, which can also be treated at rehab.

Heroin & other opiates

It is no secret how extremely damaging opiates such as heroin and fentanyl can be. Overdose is common, often resulting in death, and these drugs are notoriously difficult to quit, especially without professional help.

Withdrawing from opiates can present severe physical and psychological symptoms, which is why it is best to detox from these drugs at rehab, under proper supervision.

Prescription medications

What starts out as a legitimate prescription can sometimes develop into an addiction. For example, a patient might be prescribed a benzodiazepine such as Diazepam in order to treat an anxiety disorder.

Due to the addictive nature of some of these drugs, this can soon develop into a dependency that can be hard to kick. In recent years, it has become increasingly common for people to attend rehab for addiction to prescription drugs.

The process of detox

Detoxing is a key part of the rehab process and will take place soon after you arrive at the clinic. One of the key advantages of being treated in a dedicated rehab facility is that you can go through this with proper supervision.

This is particularly helpful for those who are withdrawing from opiate or alcohol abuse, as this can present some very nasty physical withdrawal symptoms, which will need to be managed carefully.

If you are a drinker, you will probably be instructed to gradually reduce your level of alcohol intake over the course of about a week, before coming to a total stop.

This allows the body to adjust to the changes that are happening. Do not attempt to do your own detox at home or anywhere else – this is always very dangerous.

Other treatments at rehab

The goal of rehab is to get to the bottom of your personal issues and to understand how they affect your addiction, or perhaps how they led to it developing in the first place.

This is obviously a complex subject to explore, and so it will require a multi-faceted approach in terms of mental health treatment.

Part of this will be traditional talking therapies such as counselling, psychotherapy, CBT, and group therapy sessions. Other classes will aim to give you more awareness and knowledge of addiction, and how your mental health interacts with it.

As you will no doubt be aware, substance addiction is not just a psychological disease – it is physical too.

While at rehab, your body will need to recover. That’s why you will likely have light physical activities, such as yoga, tai chi, and gardening, integrated into your treatment plan.

Some of your therapy sessions may be quite intense, but this is not all that rehab is about. Sometimes you just need rest and recuperation – this is taken into account when putting your treatment plan together.

The final piece of the jigsaw is planning for successful reintegration into the wider world once you leave, and to ensure that you minimise your risk of backsliding into addiction. This involves putting together a relapse prevention plan, in which you will identify ways to minimise anything that could harm your recovery.

For example, it may be that one of your old friends is no longer a suitable person to associate with if they are still in drug or alcohol addiction. Decisions like this will be tough to face, but every suggestion that your counsellor will have your best interests in mind.
