We even have information here specifically on drug and alcohol rehab in Spalding. If you call or us, we can give you immediate advice on alcohol or substance abuse of any kind.

How do we define addiction?

Let’s start off with the basic, general definition of addiction itself: it’s a biopsychosocial disorder where the sufferer is compelled to partake in certain behaviours, even if it causes them or those around them harm.

Addiction works on two levels: the physical, where your body craves whatever you’re addicted to, and the mental, related to the way addiction changes your brain and can be impacted by mental health.

There are also a few key signs that can show if someone is suffering from addiction, the first and most important being that aforementioned inability to stop.

Withdrawal symptoms if and when you stop are another major one. It shows that your body becoming dependent on and has adapted to the alcohol or drugs you’re consuming.

Symptoms can range from being unpleasant to dangerous at worst, depending on what you’re addicted to and how severe your addiction is. This is one of the biggest reasons that we always advise against detoxing alone.

Financial, health, social or work problems due to your addiction are all additionally signs that it may be time to reach out for help.

What treatments and services are available through Rehab 4 Addiction?

We mentioned earlier that addiction has two equally important sides, physical and mental. In line with this, most treatment plans will cover both areas with the kinds of help the person gets.

One of the most important kinds of addiction treatment is physical. Nearly all our plans start with a detox, to get rid of the substance in a literal sense first. Cravings and withdrawal symptoms can make this one of the hardest parts, but with support from expert professionals, it is achievable.

Once you’re past that stage, things will probably start to diverge a little more. Other popular physical treatments include massages, reflexology and acupuncture.

These might not seem as significant as a detox or the kinds of therapy we’re going to talk about a bit later, but they play a very important part in helping you to relax, to help your treatment overall.

Also, to add in quick definitions of reflexology and acupuncture for anyone who needs it – reflexology involves applying pressure to specific points on the feet and hands, whilst acupuncture involves the insertion of thin needles at specific points.

On the mental health side of things, Rehab 4 Addiction can also direct you towards various kinds of therapy and counselling. And yes, they are both different things – whilst counselling is more generalised, therapy is more specialised.

The kinds of mental health support that people with addiction issues often go through include talking therapy, where you talk to a therapist, motivational interviewing, where patients are encouraged to explore their own behaviour through a series of questions and support groups such as alcoholics anonymous or narcotics anonymous.

Nearly all of these treatments are available in or near Spalding. We also have a Lincolnshire based intervention programme, if you’re worried about the habits of a loved one.

A treatment plan designed to suit you

We should also note that addiction treatment is often highly personalised. The treatments you’re recommended and even the type of rehab you’re directed towards will differ based on your personal circumstances and experience with addiction.

Differing factors may be the severity of your addiction, how localised you want your treatment to be or the kind of person you are in general. When you speak to Rehab 4 Addiction, we’ll take all of this into account with regards to what we recommend for you.

To go into one example we just mentioned in more detail, those with a more severe addiction often do better with residential rehab, where they have 24/7 access to support and where they’re kept further away from temptation. On the other hand, those with less severe addiction may do better by accessing more localised treatment from home.

Aftercare

Even after your initial treatment has finished, your addiction journey won’t end there. Addiction is an ongoing struggle for the majority of sufferers – it can’t ever really be fully and completely cured, only managed.

As such, we also have treatments such as the physical and mental health ones we mentioned earlier available to you after you finish your initial treatment plan. You can also always talk to our advisers if you’re struggling at any point.

All of our team are all living their lived ‘in recovery’. You can contact us today on 0800 140 4690.
