Typically based in France, Henner Health Insurance has a broad outreach to countries all over the world and covers individuals through both employment and individually (1).
With four different types of plan to cover individuals with a variety of health issues, Henner Health insurance packages can be altered and customised to fit each individual case’s needs, including some services that may be suitable for those struggling with substance use disorders, for example.
Though the Henner Care & Health Primary plan specifically does not cover treatment for alcohol or substance abuse, this is not to say that there are other plans that may cover an individual’s needs.
This article will go over some of the key features of Henner Health Insurance, including the services accessible, licensed centres available, and the approval and application process.
The services that an individual can access through Henner Health Insurance will differ depending on which package that the individual has chosen.
Often, the type of package that an individual chooses will be determined well in advance of the individual receiving treatment, as this is something that the individual will be aware of before beginning treatment.
The types of package and the services that an individual can access through them are outlined further in the following paragraph.
The specific rehabs accepting Henner Health insurance, rather frustratingly, keep changing, and so we’ve since decided not to list the specific rehabs that do, because this is subject to change.
Please contact our helpline on 0800 140 4690 for the full list of rehabs currently accepting payment via Henner Health insurance.
Through Henner Health, individuals are able to access the following four types of plan, each with their own restrictions and services included as standard.
These are outlined on the Henner Health directory (1) as shown below:
Henner Health Insurance will only cover care that is received in one of their pre-authorised centres or providers of care.
This is so that they can ensure the highest level of care that is within their jurisdiction and level of care, without the need for additional screening or testing of new centres/providers of care.
In general, Henner Health provides a list of their approved and pre-authorised centres through their website or through their client portal (once an individual has signed up to be a member/registered their interest).
If an individual is struggling to find the list of approved health providers, or if they are enquiring about a particular treatment that they feel is suitable for them, then they should contact Henner Health directly for specific information.
The full process of applying to Henner Health insurance and beginning cover of care is outlined at the end of this article.
In all cases, specific cases and questions should always be directed to Henner Health’s support services, or alternatively to Rehab 4 Addiction’s support hotline – a 24/7 service that can provide individuals with unique next steps and plans for their individual issues.
Every individual is different and will have different requirements of care, meaning that there is no ‘one size fits all’ approach that can be taken in the field of addiction. Every individual is different and will have unique circumstances and needs while in care, requiring a greater level of specialisation and tailoring in each instance.
Every healthcare insurance plan will have different limitations and exclusions that may come into effect during an individual’s coverage.
This will be outlined in the individual’s specific plan that they have opted for and should always be obvious and the information accessible to the individual.
For example, the Henner Care & Health Primary plan will generally have far more limitations financially than the Henner Care & Health Prestige plan.
This is because individuals will often pay a lot more upfront for the Prestige plan than for the Primary plan, leading to a higher level of care as well as fewer limitations on care (both in terms of content of care as well as the cost of this).
The last few subheadings of this article outline the general process of receiving health insurance through Henner, including top tips on how to manage a Henner Health Insurance plan.
Before an individual makes any decisions about their addiction treatment needs, they should first understand the different levels of healthcare insurance that are provided.
This includes ensuring that everything that the individual expects to be covered through their plan is listed as a benefit and not as something that is blocked/limited by their level of plan.
For example, the Henner Care & Health Primary plan specifically does not include addiction/substance abuse care, meaning that individuals will need to choose a different level of care to ensure that this is insured.
The Henner website has an easy-to-access client portal on their website which utilises the individual’s Henner ID, as well as a password set up by the individual.
This information will be set up when the individual enquires about insurance plans, or when they have been accepted under a certain plan, for example.
Any confusion about this part of the application process can be brought up with Henner directly, as this is a privately owned portal that cannot be accessed by other companies due to the personal information that these portals contain access to.
Referred to as Henner’s Healthcare Provider Network, this is a list of approved providers of care that Henner insurance has pre-approved that can be accessed through the client portal.
Through their website, Henner states that it works with over 1.8 million providers (3) which can be searched through and learnt more about through their client portal.
Any individual who has questions about these providers before setting up their client portal account should speak to Henner directly or learn more about the provider directly, as well.
One way to ensure that there are no surprise costs when it comes to addiction treatment is to set up a direct billing account to allow finances to move between accounts easily and without interruption during an individual’s care programme.
For example, it could be highly disruptive if an individual’s care has to be paused while finances are organised behind the scenes – something that could cause delays in care and recovery should it occur often or for long periods of time.
If Henner Health Insurance is not suitable for your individual case or the case of someone you know, or if you are rejected by their approval process, then there are many more options that an individual can take.
